Is China causing global warming?

As scientific evidence indicates global warming and climate change is a result of the buildup of greenhouse gases in earth's atmosphere. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere and therefore raising the temperatures. This rise of temperature affects our oceans, and beyond that, living conditions around the world change as people, animals, and plants must adjust or perish.

One of the world's biggest emitter of greenhouse gases is China. Despite the fact it is one of the late comer to industrialization it has been able to produce enormous amounts of greenhouse gases. Its rapids economic growth has been an engine of prosperity but is has devastated our atmosphere with unprecedented amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. China's booming economy has reduced the number of poor people but it has been done at huge environmental costs including precious water supplies. China surpassed the United States as the number one emitter of greenhouse gases in 2007 and as of 2014 it was responsible for 27 percent of global emissions.

A tremendous amount of China's energy is made available by the burning of coal. The use of this fossil fuel provides electricity to power factories, cities, businesses and homes all over China. In return this fossil fuel poisons the atmosphere, rivers, mountains and lungs of millions of Chinese. So is the end result a fair trade? Many people will say "yes" in the name of progress and money. China's environmental problems are only beginning as are expected to only worsen as the country looks to  increase its accelerated economic growth. With international corporations looking to make China the headquarters of all manufacturing it is almost a certainty that more greenhouse gases will be burned.

China is starting to invest on clean renewable energy but due to its increasing population growth combined with economic goals it will be hard to meet targets of clean energy. Unless, the Chinese government starts a broader energy expansion program the country will only face an uncertain environmental future. So, is China causing global warming? The answer is NO. Many countries are responsible for the global problem mess today. This includes a long list of industrialized nations and a combined collective effort is desperately needed to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.
