So, What are the solutions to Climate Change and Global Warming?

In order to curb climate change it is imperative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions immediately. This is a monumental task as fossil fuels are the driving force of economic systems in our modern world. Societies around the world must work collectively in order to achieve this goal. Achieving this goal involves a political, social, and technological change that has to be done in a short period of time. Time is of the essence and action is required immediately in order to achieve a sustainable reduction to climate change.

It is imperative to reduce the use of carbon dioxide, Methane, nitrous oxide, fluorinated gases, and black carbon emissions before we reach a point of no return in which the melting antic will cease to function as a planetary cooling system and instead absorb more of the sun’s energy, accelerating the warming and releasing enormous amounts of methane into the earth’s atmosphere.

So are we supposed to turn back the clock and go back to pre-historic lifestyle? NO. We have the technology for safer energy output and in return overcome and dramatically reduce the use of carbon dioxide (CO2), black carbon, and methane. This involves the replacement of old technologies to newer technologies which reduce fossil fuel use. This cannot be done alone but instead the full collaboration of governments is needed. It is the duty of the government to sponsor many of the needed legislation to push for change.

Curbing dangerous climate change requires very deep cuts in emissions, as well as the use of alternatives to fossil fuels worldwide. The good news is that we’ve started a turnaround: CO2 emissions in the United States actually decreased from 2005 to 2014, thanks in part to new, energy-efficient technology and the use of cleaner fuels. And scientists continue to develop new ways to modernize power plants, generate cleaner electricity, and burn less gasoline while we drive. The challenge is to be sure these solutions are put to use and widely adopted.
